Janet Belliss – Silk Painting

I have been painting on silk for over 10 years. It all started when I did a taster session one weekend and from then on I was hooked. I was enthralled by the vibrant colours of the dyes, the way patterns emerge on the silk as the dyes mix and flow is so exciting. Although this is just a hobby I get great pleasure creating and experimenting with many different techniques which include using just dyes and water,  whilst others involve putting salt or sugar on the wet silk which produces lovely random unique patterns as the silk dries.

My focus is on creating unique Scarves as each one is individually hand painted. However, no silk goes to waste as I make Cards and other silk items. Examples of my work can be viewed here and also on my website – janetssilks.wordpress.com

Please note these are examples and each is unique.
